{"id":41135,"date":"2018-05-18T08:10:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T12:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/summerofjim.com\/?p=41135"},"modified":"2019-03-30T08:15:32","modified_gmt":"2019-03-30T12:15:32","slug":"chucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/summerofjim.com\/?p=41135","title":{"rendered":"Chuck&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few years ago I \njoined a group on Facebook: \u201c50s &amp; 60s Westville\u201d.&nbsp; And with all the \n<em>mishegas<\/em> about Facebook and \nprivacy issues, I still enjoy the good things that there\u2026 love the jokes, the \nanimal oriented stuff.&nbsp; And of course pictures of family and friends.&nbsp; And I \ninclude this Westville Group in the \u201cgood\u201d column.&nbsp; And as an aside, judging \nfrom the folks who actively post and comment within the site, you\u2019d have to \nthink that Westville had the highest concentration of Jews outside of Jerusalem. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of the posts \ndeal with school stuff and folks trying to find other folks \u201cAnyone know where \nCynthia Scheinberg is these days?&nbsp; We were friends in Sheridan.\u201d \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Businesses also pop \nup, \u201cWho remembers Jackson Marvin\u2019s in the Village?\u201d Or, places\u2026 \u201cLoved going to \nsummer concerts at the Yale Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But most of the posts \nspin around places to eat.&nbsp; And as you can imagine there is a ton of posts on \nthe Wooster St \u201cpizza shrines\u201d and of course Jimmies of Savin Rock.&nbsp; No, not \npart of Westville <em>per se<\/em>; but \ndefinitely within our orbit. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something else you \nshould know, most of the folks who are connected in the Group no longer live in \nthe area.&nbsp; The chief archivist, who posts most of the old photographs, lives in \nColorado. But \neveryone seems keen to hop in with a favorite deli, hamburger joint, pizza \nparlor\u2026 or to debate the finer points of Jimmies\u2019 lobster roll versus Chicks\u2019. I \nsubmitted Whitey\u2019s in Guilford (by the water tank, just off of I-95) \nfor roasted clams and corn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A place that often  surfaces is Chuck\u2019s. My experience there was limited to less than a half dozen  times.
